Ok so the title of this post is a little misleading. It’s not so much about how to get in shape but more about some techniques I used and motivation that kept me going. Let’s start from the beginning. I’ve always been thin (except for freshman year of college when I would eat frozen yogurt at every meal and drift off to sleep with a bacon, egg and cheese bagel in hand) but when I moved to L.A. and turned thirty and stopped walking and started doing improv it was a perfect storm and I gained weight.

So I started working out. At first I just did Pop Physique. I got that monthly unlimited and I popped my little heart out. Once ClassPass came along I switched over to that. For me, variety is the spice of life and I love that I can take a pilates class Monday, dance on Tuesday and a boot camp on Wednesday. JK I hate bootcamp but sometimes my workout buddy* (see below) makes me go.

Clotheshorse Workout Tips

  • Find a workout buddy whose schedule matches your own.
  • Automate  that sh** – pay up front so you show up.
  • Reward yourself – You spent an hour sweating when you could have been sleeping. You deserve a twelve dollar Banana Manna shake with an E3 live floater on top and probably a massage on Friday.
