Last week I was invited to Herringbone Restaurant at the
Mondrian Hotel to try out a new program called Sip With The Sommelier. For $45
you get to meet local wine makers, sample a bunch of wines, and enjoy passed hors
d’oeuvres on the Mondrian’s beautiful patio. It’s not a terrible way to spend a
Wednesday evening.
I wanted something new to wear but since I was jetting off
to Kauai later in the week and most of my play money had been bookmarked for
Mai Tais and surf lessons, I didn’t want to spend a fortune.
Houndstooth has been everywhere for fall so imagine how
stoked I was to find this perfect little shift dress at Forever 21 at the Grove
for under $21. I rarely go in Forever 21 because despite the store’s name the
clothes are typically most appropriate for girls under the legal drinking age,
but I was there for my friend Shauna Miller’s book signing and flipped when I
saw this frock. I love that the cut is fitted but not tight and short, since my
legs are admittedly my favorite body part to show off. I paired it with my
trusty Steve Madden Real Love heels, and when the hostess at Herringbone asked
if they were Calvin Klein I knew I had successfully pulled off looking like a
million bucks while spending much less.

P.S. I would absolutely love to see a pair of houndstooth
heels or a clutch, so leave a comment if you spot them!
