It seems like every little beach town in America has an Ocean Avenue.

But the one in Santa Monica, CA is my favorite because it reminds me of one special year after college when I got to live with my dad in a rented apartment near the beach. He was in LA writing for tv and I was here auditioning. I still technically had an apartment in New York so instead of spending money on a separate abode I crashed with my Dad. My parents divorced when I was young so I never spent significant time living in the same house with my father. It was an experience I’m glad I had because even though there were some rocky patches we got to know each other better and I’m sure it paved the way for our mostly harmonious working relationship (we wrote a screenplay together last year). Speaking of things that work well together I love this mix of neutrals and denim and pops of gold. It felt like the perfect thing to wear for an afternoon stroll up the golden coast last Friday.
