For as long as I can remember my dream has been to be a working actor.
I can gratefully say that acting has become how I make my living and I no longer have to waitress or work odd jobs to pay the bills. Amazing!
But lately I’ve been wishing for a larger role.
A part I can really make my own and perform to the top of my ability.
A role I could explore for longer than a day or even a week.
With all that is going on in the world it’s easy to think that our personal goals don’t matter.
We all have wishes and often we stifle them for the sake of gratitude ( Our lives are indeed so good) or not seeming self-involved in the face of so much turmoil. But wishes are important.
Imagine
If Obama had never wished to be president…
Or Hemingway had never wished to publish a novel…
Or Julia Child had never wished to master the art of French cooking…
Or …
The list goes on and on.
I guess I’m writing this to convince myself that no matter how old we get
wishes are still worth having.
In fact they sort of make us who we are and we in turn make the world a more inspiring place to live in.
What are you wishing for these days?
I’d love to hear.
