Learn Spanish. This simple phrase stared me in the face for years every time I looked at my to-do list. The great thing about keeping an ongoing list is that the longer you look at your desires the more powerful they become. Actually some things fall by the wayside. Occasionally I write something on my long term goals list and after staring at it for months I realize I actually have zero interest in seeing the thing to fruition. But learn Spanish nagged me. I mean who couldn’t benefit from knowing a second language? I speak enough French to get by but when do I really have a chance to practice? Speaking Spanish is not just creative but practical for a few reasons,
-Being an actress of partial Spanish heritage I’m often asked if I’m fluent in Spanish.
-I live in Los Angeles.
-I love traveling and hate sounding like a unilingual american.
This Christina dress is made by Pily Q, a brand I recently discovered that sources their fabrics from Barcelona. Pily Q’s mission statement is vive la vida or live your life. Sometimes the next step I need to take to live my best, most creative life seems like a lot of work and not worth the hassle but what’s the alternative? This past January I signed up for classes at the Beverly Hills Lingual Institute. It’s not easy and I hate doing homework but I feel like a part of my brain is being massaged that wasn’t being used at all previously.
I know I’m a long way away from being able to deliver lines believably in espagnol but in order to vive la vida I had to start somewhere.
