After reading Grace Coddington’s memoir Grace over the break and subsequently seeing The September Issue this week I have a crazy, new respect for Miss Coddington, Miss Wintour and a keener interest in Vogue in general. It’s amazing the lengths these women go to create gorgeous, evocative stories for us to pour over every month. I worked as a stylist in NYC briefly so I know what Grace means when she talks about dragging tons of clothing around and dressing models. It’s such hard work! And long hours! And the pop of the flash can make you go temporarily blind or at least have a terrible headache. But it’s also pretty fun and a photo shoot does start to feel like a family when you are marooned in Puerto Rico together for a week:)
Grace is my new answer to the age old question “what celebrity would you like to have dinner with?”
She even got me to kind of understand why people love cats.
Hats off!
