Taking in versus putting out is something I think is a huge factor in creativity. I invariably have a better day when I make time to go to the flower market or visit a museum or take a tennis lesson in addition to writing and returning email. A week ago I made the decision to take a big step back and a deep breath and not to do much of anything for a whole week. I still made it to my Pop Physique and acting classes, I still got my blog posts up but I also had long lunches and spent all day Thursday at the beach with my friend Pete. I was feeling really frantic and stressed before my chill week but not like I was accomplishing much or having major breakthroughs. I can, like most people, start to feel like all work is productive even when it isn’t but I secretly think I got more accomplished on my chill week then I did in the weeks prior and I felt really open to receiving new ideas. I hope to find this work life balance more often this Summer and even take whole weeks off to explore new places, Italy and Hawaii are on my list. Work to live, don’t live to work. Clotheshorse words to live by.
