A friend complemented my pineapple shoes this weekend and I confessed to not being sure about them because I thought they were a little cutesy but then ultimately they made me happy every time I looked down at my feet. She offered that if one is going to venture out into cutesy territory the shoes are a good place to start as wearing a pineapple on your feet is less aggressive than on your chest for example. I agreed.
I also had no problem matching the denim, linen vibes of this wrap dress to the denim, denim vibes of my shoes. This could normally be seen as too match-matchy but on this particular day I was headed to a baby shower. Women would be wearing flower crowns and long bohemian dresses un-ironically. I knew that cool-caution would be thrown to the wind.
Let’s be real no one really knows how to dress for things like baby showers. For me the answer is like yourself and maybe just slightly more feminine. This was a co-ed baby shower which is becoming more common and for which I am grateful. I’ve always found all female showers to be a bit saccharine sweet and you’re less likely to get roped into a bunch of stupid games if dudes are there.
