I wanted a dog so freakin’ bad growing and instead of getting me one my father got me a photo book called “Dogs and Their Women.” Forget the cover photo of the dog and his woman kissing and the weirdly erotic title which also sort of suggests the dog’s own the women and not the other way around but I didn’t want a book about dogs I wanted an actually cuddly thing to love me and since I was pretty sure that the Pillsbury Dough Boy couldn’t be bought I wanted a puppy!
Flash forward many years to Brooklyn and my then fiance buying me Sidney as an engagement gift. I legitimately feel like Sidney’s my best friend. I spend all day erryday with him, if I’m sick he will lay next to me on the couch, he forgives me when I snap at him and if I want to play he’s always down.
So when Sidney and I were asked to participate in the More Than A Cone charity campaign where artists re-imagine the “cone of shame” as an art piece I was so on board. The original works of art will be auctioned off to benefit Best Friends Animal Society this June and best friends is the largest no-kill animal shelter in the US.
My blogger bud Sydne Summer designed this skirt (inspired by the mixed prints trend) by hand-painting three plastic cones and detailing them with Swarovski crystals. Sidney was an excellent sidekick/model for the shoot and carried himself like the little prince that he is. Sidenote: my college email address may or may not have been lepetiteprincess haha like mother like son.
