We’ve all been there, you’re having the itch to buy something new meanwhile your bank account is wondering how you’re going to pay for your half of dinner much less a new outfit. My advice in these situations is simple, go back to basics.
When shopping on a budget things like fit and texture become even more important to me. I stopped by Harpers boutique in the OC last week and picked up this white vegan leather skirt and sheer black sweater. Neither item will break the bank and they work just as well with the rest of my wardrobe as they do together.
I also stick with a neutral palette when shopping on a shoestring which is a trick I learned from a French/Swedish friend who is super chic and adept at finding covet worthy pieces at H&M.
Lastly, layer in some investment accessories which, if you’re a good Clotheshorse NYC reader, I’m sure you’ve been collecting. Spending $300 on a great pair of sunnies or a statement watch will elevate whatever you’re wearing and help create your signature style.
